How do I know my module is actually bad?

Most modules fail with consistent trouble codes (DTCs) that don't clear or come back immediately after a reset. If you're unsure, scan the vehicle and message us the codes — we'll tell you whether the module is repairable before you ship anything.

Do I need to remove the module myself?

Yes — we only need the module itself, no harnesses, brackets, or cables (unless we specifically ask). If you're not comfortable removing it, any local independent shop can do it in well under an hour for most modules.

Will repairing fix my vehicle if the problem isn't actually the module?

No — we test every module on the bench, but if the root cause is wiring, a connector, or a sensor, the repaired module will throw the same codes when you reinstall it. We recommend a basic diagnostic on the vehicle first.

Do I need to drain ABS/TCM modules?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Hydraulic modules MUST be drained and have ports plugged or taped. Leaking units will be returned at your expense — fluid damages other parcels and our equipment.

Free FedEx 2-Day return shipping is included on orders over $100. You're responsible for getting your module TO us — we recommend a tracked, insured service.

What if my module is damaged in transit on the way to you?

We'll photograph any damaged packaging on arrival and contact you immediately. Carrier damage claims are between you and your shipper — this is why we insist on tracked & insured service.

How should I package it?

Anti-static bag or aluminum foil around the PCB, then bubble wrap or foam padding on all six sides, inside a sturdy double-walled box. No padded envelopes — they don't protect against drops.

Most modules ship back within 24–48 hours of arrival at our bench. Total round-trip is typically 5–7 business days. Programming-required modules can add 1–2 days.

Do you replace the module or actually repair it?

Will I need to recode or program the module after I get it back?

In most cases no — we keep your original VIN, mileage, and coding. A handful of modules (some newer BMW, MB, and certain Volvo units) require a brief vehicle re-marriage; we'll tell you in advance if yours is one of them.

Can you flash a different VIN or coding into the module?

Yes for certain modules. Email us with the donor and target VINs and the application — we'll confirm feasibility before you ship.

Do I need a dealer scan tool afterward?
