Honda airbag light on after an accident? Here's the fix.
You fixed the body damage, replaced the airbags and seat belts — and the SRS light is still on. On Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey and Fit, that's almost always the airbag control module holding crash data. You don't need a new one.

Signs your Honda SRS module has crash data
- • SRS / airbag light stays on solid after the car was in a collision
- • Light stays on even after new airbags, seat belts and clock spring are installed
- • Scan tool shows a "crash data stored" or internal module fault that won't clear
- • Codes come right back after every clear attempt
- • The car failed a state inspection for the airbag light
Why clearing the codes doesn't work
When a Honda detects a crash, the SRS control module writes a permanent crash record to its own internal memory. This is a safety design: a module that has been through an impact locks itself until it's serviced. Normal scan tools can read the fault but can't erase that record, so the light comes straight back.
The dealer's answer is a brand-new module, which then has to be programmed to the car. A reset clears the crash record on your original module instead, so it goes back in already matched to your VIN.

How the mail-in reset works
- Order the reset for your year, make and model online.
- Disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, then remove the SRS module. On most Hondas it sits under the center console.
- Ship it to us with a tracked, insured service.
- We clear the crash data, bench-test the module and ship it back.
- Plug it in — no programming needed. Your original module, your original VIN.
Before you ship it
- • Replace any deployed airbags, seat belt pretensioners and damaged sensors first — a reset won't fix those
- • Check the clock spring if the light was on before the accident
- • Never test airbag parts with a test light or meter — it can set them off
- • 1-year warranty on the repair, and no fix, no charge

Questions buyers ask before sending it in
Why is my Honda airbag light still on after replacing the airbags?
The SRS control module stores a permanent crash record after a collision. Until that record is cleared or the module is replaced, the light stays on, no matter which other parts are new.
Can I clear Honda SRS crash data with a scan tool?
Usually not. Regular scan tools can read the fault but can't erase the crash record kept in the module's own memory, so the light comes back.
Do I need programming after the reset?
No. It's your original module with your original VIN, so you plug it back in and it works.
Where is the SRS module on a Honda Civic, Accord or CR-V?
On most Hondas it sits under the center console. Disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes before you unplug it.
What if the module can't be reset?
No fix, no charge. Every repair also has a 1-year warranty.
